Ontario is proud of its long-standing hunting tradition, of its solid reputation for delivering all the beauty of the great outdoors and all the opportunity for a safe and successful hunt.

The navigation on the right outlines some other key rules and regulations, as well as some important links for every hunter preparing for an excursion in Ontario.

Hunter Education

In some cases, hunters are required to take a Hunter Safety course. For example, wild turkey licences are only available after the successful completion of a written examination taken after the one-day Wild Turkey Hunter Education Course that covers biology, hunting techniques and safety measures. This course is mandatory for both residents and non-residents wishing to hunt wild turkeys in Ontario for the first time.

To find a hunter education instructor in your area, contact a Service Ontario office listed here or the Ontario Federation of Hunters and Anglers at 705-748-5785, or visit their website here.

For more information regarding the hunter safety education program, contact MNR, or download the Hunting Regulations Summary here.
